How the topsoil calculator works
Volume (ft³) = area (ft²) × depth (in) ÷ 12. Cubic yards = cubic feet ÷ 27. The calculator then applies the waste allowance.

- Soil weight varies with moisture and composition, so tonnage is an estimate.
