Your estimate
Supplier roll and pallet coverage varies. Update those values before ordering, and use the optional price field only for a quick material budget.
How the sod calculator works
Order area = measured area × (1 + waste %). Rolls = order area ÷ roll coverage. Pallets = order area ÷ pallet coverage.
For a better estimate
- Measure each lawn section separately if the shape is irregular.
- Add extra sod for trimming around curves, trees and edges.
- Supplier roll and pallet coverage varies, so update the defaults before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
How much extra sod should I order?+
Many projects benefit from a modest waste allowance for trimming and damaged pieces. Irregular lawns may need more than simple rectangles.
How many square feet are on a pallet of sod?+
Pallet coverage varies by farm, grass type and roll size. Use your supplier’s stated coverage in the calculator.
Does this include installation cost?+
The optional cost field estimates sod material only. Labor, delivery, soil preparation and removal of an old lawn are separate.
