There is no universal number of sod rolls on a pallet. Farms package turf in different roll or slab sizes, and pallet coverage varies by grass type, harvesting equipment, region and supplier.
Coverage matters more than roll count
For ordering, the most useful supplier number is total square feet per pallet. A pallet containing fewer large rolls may cover the same area as one containing more small rolls. Ask for both roll coverage and pallet coverage when planning handling.
Include trimming allowance before converting
First measure the lawn and add allowance for cuts, curves and damaged pieces. Then divide the adjusted order area by pallet coverage. Applying waste after rounding pallets can produce a different and less transparent result.
Example
If the order area is 2,140 square feet and the supplier says one pallet covers 500 square feet, the calculation is 4.28 pallets. Because a partial pallet may not be available, the planning order rounds up to 5 pallets. Confirm whether the supplier sells individual rolls for smaller adjustments.
Plan delivery and installation timing
Sod is perishable and should not remain stacked longer than the supplier recommends. Coordinate delivery with site preparation, labor and watering. Also confirm pallet weight and access requirements with the supplier before delivery.
