Count blocks by courses
Divide wall length by installed block length and round up for blocks per course. Divide the required wall height by installed block height and round up for the number of courses. Multiply the two results, then account for buried courses and cuts.
Keep caps separate
Cap units often have different dimensions and packaging. Calculate caps from wall length using their installed coverage rather than assuming one cap per standard block.
Curves and corners change the order
Tight curves may limit which block systems can be used, and corners can require special units. Follow manufacturer charts and do not use a quantity estimate as structural design.
