Concrete cost per yard is only one part of a finished project budget. A useful comparison starts with the same concrete volume and mix specification, then separates delivery, placement and site work that may not be included in the headline rate.
What changes the ready-mix price?

Example planning comparison
If the calculator returns 3.26 cubic yards, a supplier may require the order to be rounded to its accepted increment. Multiplying 3.26 by a local per-yard rate gives only the material subtotal. Add every quoted fixed fee before comparing that delivery with bagged concrete or another supplier.
Separate material cost from installed cost
An installed slab may also require excavation, aggregate base, forms, reinforcement, joints, finishing and cleanup. Ask whether a contractor quote includes these items and whether concrete delivery is a pass-through cost or part of a fixed project price.
Do not use a national average as a quote
Plant distance, order size, mix, season and local demand can change pricing. Enter current local numbers in the calculator and keep the date and assumptions with the estimate.
