Calculate project area
Multiply length by width for rectangles and add irregular sections. A 12×12 patio has 144 square feet before borders or design changes.
Use installed coverage
Divide project area by square feet covered per paver, or multiply by the manufacturer’s pavers-per-square-foot figure. Round up to complete packages where required.
Add pattern allowance
Straight rectangular layouts generally create fewer cuts than diagonal patterns, curves and detailed borders. Keep specialty border units separate from field pavers so the quantities remain auditable.
